Hello! This site is a journal of the adventures of an Aussie (Narelle) and a Frenchman (Yves).

Our story so far...

We met in Australia in 1999 and moved to Edinburgh in 2000. While there we visited a lot of Scotland and also took trips to Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Malaysia and Australia.

After five years in Edinburgh we decided to move on to Toulouse, France. In July 2005 we got married and in February 2006 we moved house.

Since living in France, we've done a fair amount of sightseeing in the country, have taken two trips back to Edinburgh and spent a week in Vienna in November 2006.

In January 2007 we adopted a cat, Charlie, and in June 2007 we went on a seven-week holiday, spending six weeks in Australia via a long stopover both ways in Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2008, we both started new jobs, so couldn't really travel far as neither of us had any holiday time to take. To compensate, we explored regions near home (Toulouse, France). That meant a lot of wine tourism! We went to wineries in the following regions: Basque Country, Languedoc Rousillon (including Limoux), Corbieres, Cahors, Gaillac, Gascony and of course, Bordeaux.

We also took a few weekend trips, notably to Paris in February for Yves' youngest brother Marc's wedding to his bride Pia, and Paris again for a long weekend in June for Yves' big family reunion. In July we went to Gruissan and Narbonne on the Mediterranean Sea for a weekend of sun, wine and tourism and again in September for my (Narelle) birthday.

We moved into a little house in October 2008 and are really enjoying it after so many years of living in flats.

In January 2009, I left my full-time job as a computer helpdesk agent to concentrate on my journalism and writing career. We also got into skiing and snowshoeing during the ski season, and we went on a trip with Yves' younger brother and girlfriend to Australia via a few days in Hong Kong.

In 2010, we've got lots and lots of little trips planned! This year's destinations include:

March: a long weekend in Rodez and another in Barcelona
April: a two and a half week road trip around Spain
May: a week of visiting the Chateau de Versailles and Disneyland in Paris
June: a day trip to Collioure
July–August: a week in Andorra and a week in Barcelona
August: a day trip to Andorra
September: a weekend of eating oysters and relaxing on the beach in Arcachon
November: a long weekend somewhere, but where??
December: a long weekend of snowshoe hiking in the Pyrenees

21st February 2010: Snowshoe hike at Plateau de Beille, France

The last official English in Toulouse snowshoe hike for the 2009/10 season was held at our favourite nordic park, Plateau de Beille, on Sunday 21st February.
