A few days in the Aussie capital
We get to Sydney very early in the morning and take a cab to our hotel, the Kirketon on Darlinghurst road. It's quite comfortable, modern (nice telly!), affordable, and walking distance from the centre. Only downside is that the bathroom is basically outdoors, and winter in Sydney is on the coldish side.
While in Hong Kong, Yves got a bit sick. Just before leaving, Narelle got the same symptoms, and felt so bad we got her to the surgery that was conveniently located three doors down the hotel. She was diagnosed with probably H1N1 and was given tamiflu.
Luckily she was better the next day and come with us all to the most famous opera in the world, the Sydney Opera House, where we saw Aida.
The Opera House is a beautiful building, both outside and inside. The show was also wonderful, with fantastic costumes, choreographies, music and of course singing.
After the opera, we decide to take the ferry to Darling Harbour for dinner.
We missed the stop in Darling Harbour, so we disembarked at the Luna Park just in front of the Opera, on the other side of the harbour. We waited in the cold for the next ferry to take us back to Darling Harbour, where we found a huge pub.
In Sydney, pigeons are white, yellow-crested, beautiful cockatoos!
The next day, we're up really early and cross the city to go to the top of the AMP Tower. On the way we cross Hyde Park and St James church.
We get to the tower before it even opens. Oops. Once on top we enjoy the view (we can even see the opera!), although the weather is pretty bad.
Scary what?
Our meeting point is a shopping centre located in a monumental, historical building. Look at that clock! Crikey!
After these few days in Sydney, we get up at an ungodly hour to catch a plane to Adelaide.
