A drive south along the Gold Coast, Australia

July 2007

We hired a car for a couple of days and spent an afternoon driving south along some of the length of the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast is about 52km long and goes to the border of New South Wales. We started our trip in Surfers Paradise where we hired our car, then passed through Broadbeach where we often go for dinner, Mermaid Beach, Miami Beach and Tugan. Our first stop was at Kurrawa near the coastal national park trail to watch the surfers. Next we continued along past Burleigh Heads and walked along the beach at Currumbin, then drove on to Greenmount Beach for an ice-cream and an espresso overlooking the surf. Next we headed all the way down past Coolangatta to Point Danger, just over the border in New South Wales, to see the cliffs and then back over the border to Coolangatta again to watch the sunset.
