Cycling around Vienna

Hiring a bike in Vienna is fantastic! There are electronic stations all over the city, your credit card is your id, you enter your password, pick your bike and ride away. The first hour is free then it's 1 euro an hour. When you're done, you just pull into the nearest bike station, plug the bike in and walk away.

On the way to Prater, we rode over a bridge. We stopped to take this rather odd shot of a public pool on a barge

And on the other side of the bridge is a lovely view of Prater, to where we rode. Prater is a very old amusement park, and the ferris wheel is one of the oldest still around. Apparently it's very well known, so we went to check it out. If you click on the photo, you may just be able to see the ferris wheel in the distance.

Here's Yves, riding down a beautiful tree-lined street in the park surrounding Prater. The park goes on for seemingly ever. After we'd ridden for half an hour we stopped to see how far we'd covered according to the map — we'd not even gone halfway!

And here's Narelle, all rugged up to hide her bandaged head.

After riding for a couple of kilometres down this beautiful tree-lined park, we turned off and went for a wander through Prater, the amusement park. It was really ugly and looked like a ghost town with all it's fun fair rides and lolly shops, so we didn't bother taking photos.
