Brussels, Belgium
Easter 2001
Yves and I spent a few days with his friend, Alex, in Brussels for the Easter holidays of 2001.
Belgium is the home of beer, chocolate and Moules et Frites (Mussels and Fries). It's also a bi-lingual country and everthing is written in French and Flemish. Some things are even written in German or English -- or all four.
Brussels is packed with dogs! Dogs everywhere, and where there are no dogs in sight, there sure is a trail of dogs droppings. Stinky!
Anyway, we saw this cute sign for a dogs toilet. If only they had more of these, eh? If you go to Brussels, watch where you walk!
We went to A la Becasse for this beer, which is a great little pub in the centre of town. The waiter's uniforms were especially cool and looked like something out of the 16th century.
Here's me looking like a drowned rat, after coming in from the rain for a beer. I quite liked the glasses the beer came in, but the beer itself takes some getting used to. It kind of has a cherry aftertaste to it.
We went to a Kebab shop on the Monday, a few hours before flying home to Edinburgh. The paintings on the walls were so surreal! Look closely at the pic and you'll need to blink to check that you are seeing the picture correctly. It is strange!
