Narelle and Yves' Photojournal
November 2008
Hello! This site is a journal of the adventures of an Aussie (Narelle) and a Frenchman (Yves).
Our story so far...
We met in Australia in 1999 and moved to Edinburgh in 2000. While there we visited a lot of Scotland and also took trips to Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Malaysia and Australia.
After five years in Edinburgh we decided to move on to Toulouse, France. In July 2005 we got married and in February 2006 we moved into our own flat.
We've now been living in Toulouse for three years. So far we have seen quite a bit of France, we've taken two trips back to Edinburgh and we went to Vienna for a week in November 2006.
In January 2007 we adopted an 18-month old cat, Charlie, and in June 2007 we went on a seven-week holiday, spending six weeks in Australia via a long stopover both ways in Bangkok, Thailand.
This year, 2008, we both started new jobs, so can't really travel far. To compensate, we're exploring regions near home (Toulouse, France). That means a lot of wine tourism! So far we've been to wineries in the following regions: Basque Country, Languedoc Rousillon (including Limoux), Corbieres, Cahors, Gaillac, Gascony and of course, Bordeaux.
We also took a few weekend trips, notably to Paris in February for Yves' youngest brother Marc's wedding to his bride Pia, and Paris again in June for a long weekend in June for Yves' big family reunion. In July we went to Gruissan and Narbonne on the Mediterranean Sea for a weekend of sun, wine and tourism and again in September for my (Narelle) birthday.
Summer holiday, July 2008
We spent a week on the Atlantic coast at the Bay of Arcachon for our third wedding anniversary in July 2008.
Arcachon is a pretty little village known for its oysters — needless to say, we ate oysters everyday.
We also climbed the Dune of Pyla, the largest sand dune in Europe, which was just a 20 minute drive from our hotel.
On the last day of our trip, we spent a few hours visiting Saint Emillion where we had lunch, and then in the late afternoon visited Bordeaux for a few hours before heading back to Toulouse.
Also on this trip: Plage les Salies, Dune de Pyla, Saint Emillion and Bordeaux.
