Sticky boiled rice
- Ingredients (for 2 people)
- 1 cup of jasmine or basmati rice
- 1 and a half cups of cold water
- pinch of salt
Method
Rince the raw rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a cold, nonstick pot, throw in the cup of rice with 1 and a half cups of cold water (just enough to cover the rice really) and a pinch of salt. Let it soak for about 10 minutes if you want to (recommended).
Now put a lid on the pot and bring to the boil. Do not move away from the stove! You have to listen for the water to boil, and whatever you do, do not lift the lid.
When your hear the water boiling, turn the heat off completely and go away and forget about the rice for at least 10 minutes.
When ready to serve, fluff up the rice with a fork. It should be quite sticky and there should be no water left in the pot. It should not be gluggy on the outside or hard in the middle.
