Spanish roadtrip, 2010

Itinerary:

Day 1: Toulouse-Zarautz-Madrid (A64 and A-1, 793 km, 7 hours 46 mins)

Left Toulouse around 9am

Arrived in Zarautz for lunch at a restaurant overlooking the beach around 1.30pm-ish

Arrived in Madrid around 7pm for the night

Day 2: Madrid (2 nights)

Explored Madrid

Day 3: Madrid-Manilva

Day 3-10: Manilva (Stayed for a week at: Terrazas Costa del Sol, Manilva. Pics: view from terrace | the terrace | lounge room

Day trips to:

Gibraltar

Rhonda

Cazeres

Marbella

Malaga

Day 10: Manilva - Seville (2 nights in Seville)

Day 12: Seville - Madrid (2 nights in Madrid)

Day 14: Madrid - Toulouse (via a little village called Lherma, where we stopped to shop at the markets)

Day 15 - 18: Home too early, just in time for the rubbish weather to follow us all the way home. Yay.

Next time, we want to see all the things we missed this trip due to bad weather:

Bilbao and the Guggenheim museum, Salamanca, Segovia, Tabernas desert, Granada and the Allhambra and Nasrid Palaces, Cordova, Alicante, Cartagena and Valencia.

For accomodation, see "Little Hotels in Spain" web site. The others to look at are the posadas - expensive but sometimes you get offers and they are all in historical buildings - we stayed in a monastery in Cuenta - it was amazing and with a special offer and sticking to the table d'hote menu it was affordable!
