The Pentlands, near Edinburgh

A few minutes drive out of Edinburgh are the Pentland Hills. The Pentlands stretch for miles and are a great place for hill walking, cycling, picnicing and barbequeing. Before we sold our car, we used to go here quite frequently. It's especially nice in summer and we would occasionally go there after work (love those long daylight hours in summer!) for a stroll among the hills and the sheep and finish off with dinner at the Flotterstone Inn at the entrance to the Pentlands.
