Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe Festival, Scotland
This year, we went to:

- The Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert
We had a blast in Edinburgh this year! We caught the last week of the festival, saw lots of great shows (and a really really bad one — The Free Beer Show was absolutely crap, save for the fact that we did actually get a free drink). We also did a few touristy things that we somehow didn't get around to doing in the five years that we lived in this beautiful city, caught up with friends and ate and drank far too much.
One of the best things about the trip was that public places are now smoke-free. We really enjoyed the luxury of going to pubs and restaurants without having to inhale toxic tobacco fumes all night! I can't tell you how hard it was to come back to France where one in two people smoke and restaurants still allow smoking. Oh well, we'll just have to get used to not going to restaurants again until France finally catches up with the rest of the world and bans smoking.
