Highlands

Written by Narelle

These are just a small selection of photos that we took as we passed through the highlands on the way to towns such as Aberdeen, Inverness, Ullapool etc. The one place we did stay a couple of times though, was Glen Coe and we got several pretty photos of it to share on here.

The highlands are surrounded by many Lochs. These lochs are truly spectacular, with the rolling mountains in the background. We photographed this loch on our way out to Glen Coe in January 2001. It was so cold the loch had become about 80% frozen. The road to Glen Coe passes through a series of lakes and the Munro Mountains. The area is alive with hikers and climbers. This part of Scotland offers amazing treks! Pictured is Loch Lubnaig, which is in the Trossachs not far from Callendar. Looking the other way down the Loch Lubnaig. Snow capped mountains overlook the frozen loch. A very peaceful place.
