Inverness
Inverness is a small city about half way up Scotland and owes much of its popularity to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster as it is the nearest city to the famous loch.
Yves and I have been to Inverness a few times, mostly when his friends from France come over for a visit. It's a lively place during summer with plenty of touristy things to do, and shops to browse. In the off season there's not much happening and the city appears to be a bit of a ghost town.
About half an hour's drive north-east of Inverness, is Cawdor Castle. The castle is one of the few Scottish Castles which are still lived in and owned by the decendants of the people who originally lived in it. We went there with Yves' friend, Irvin, in 2000.
Along the coast of Inverness is the Moray Firth, where you can go dolphin spotting... though we've never managed to find any yet. I guess we're not looking hard enough!
