Bryson Road, Viewforth, Edinburgh

October 2001 - March 2005

We moved to this flat in October 2001 after spending our first year in Scotland at Moat Terrace, Slateford. This flat is 10 minutes walk to Princes Street (city centre). There's a backyard which we took advantage of most summers to have a few barbeques. It was especially nice weather for outdoor barbequing during the heatwave of August 2003 when we got up to 27° celcius! We used our "Barbipot" which we got from Fletchers of Auchtermurchty (our Venison suppliers) at the Farmers' Market. It's a really efficient BBQ and the perfect size for two.

On the first and third Saturday of every month, we go grocery shopping at the Edinburgh Farmer's Market which has really nice locally farmed produce (they even sell locally grown Ostrich meat!)

We are 2 minutes walk from the Fountainpark Megaplex, on Dundee Street which has UGC cinemas (13 screens), two restaurants, a pub, bowling alley, a gym, which we joined in 2002 and some nightclubs (although I'm not sure they are they still there...).

About a hundred metres away from our flat (towards the Megaplex) are two very nice restaurants, one Balti Indian Cuisine called "Guru" and one Italian Cuisine called "Piatto Verde" (I designed a Web site for Piatto Verde in 2004) - they are both very small (seat maximum of 30 people all squished in) with really friendly staff and great food.

We made a xmas pudding from scratch in 2003 and hung it out to dry and mature in our shower. We had the first tasting of the first batch (pictured) in November, and it turned out that we got the measurements completely wrong, so that batch went in the bin and we tried again. We had a dinner party on December 6th where we served the second batch of pudding and luckily it was a success! :) We had two smaller puddings from the same batch left over. One of these was opened when Yves' little brother Marc flew in from Paris to visit us from Boxing Day to New Year's Eve and the other we greedily ate between us shortly before we went on our Christmas holiday to Australia in December 2004.
